Five pages in five days! Pretty, pretty good. Expect the same for the next five straight weeks, or close to it at least. And expect to see Murdo and Rage kicking some serious zombie ass on the next page (Monday or Tuesday).

  1. IGOR Says:

YES first post and lets hoppe they can save them. I LOVE THIS COMIC SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH KEP IT GOING :)

  2. -JB- Says:

    OOHHH YEAH!!!!!!!!!

Not only has the story been moving fast, but the updates have been too! Good on you Bobby and Owen!

  3. Chris Says:

That’s the noble sort of sentiment that I expected out of Payne. The responsible demenor of a leader.

Out of curiousity, how old is Payne, it looks like he’s probably one of the oldest if he’s done so many of important scientific discoveries over time. I remember Math was something like a 150 so he must be older than at least him.

  4. Bobby Crosby Says:

Addison Fucking Payne is 2,087 years old.

  5. Abrak Says:

2,087 years old! He has seen quite a few things…

I wonder how he dealt with the Black Death in the 14th century.

  6. Bobby Crosby Says:

“I wonder how he dealt with the Black Death in the 14th century.”

    He killed it.

  7. McGurker Says:

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

    “He killed it”

    Kick ass.

Well, I wanna find out what Devian is up to.

  8. Bobby Crosby Says:

She’s still helping Mac fill up the generator with gas — this is all happening very quickly. End of Page 87 is like three minutes after the end of Page 81.  You’ll find out what her important responsibility is on Page 89, I think.

  9. doa303 Says:

so im guessing that rage is up with payne’s plan. im also guessing rage is the first saddest(some one who likes inflicting pain) masochist(someone who likes pain inflicted on them) to have waled the earth. (yes i lernt those two words today.)

  10. Dan Says:

Payne has pretty much discovered everything scientific wise.

    Are humans that dumb :(

Anyways I want Murdo to get a bad ass power like that girl that can fly.

  11. Adryn Pinkston Says:

    Hello everyone .
this is my first time posting a comment . i have been following this wonderful story since some handed me a free comic of last blood issue 1,
and i think i have been up to date on reading the comments , spoilers and every other tidbite of info i can get . so in other words if you have posted the answer to my question before than i would like to appoligize .
    with that said ……
when we see val looking concerned and sorry , i can only assume that she made TFZ ? also if she did then do we get to hear her story and how this whole situation became soo FUBARED ?
thanks again for an awesome comic Bobby !!!

  12. Rayne Kethera Says:

Can’t say I’m too long of a reader or that vampires are really my thing, but I love the story, characters and all.

For all those people I’ve read in the comments going ‘this can’t be right, this isn’t accurate, that’s not possible, why not this, could this work’ and so on. Please… for the sake of my sanity (and probably Mr. Crosby’s as well) just sit back, relax, realize that it’s fiction, quit nitpicking, and enjoy a good story.

I certainly can empathize with Payne’s sentiment on his plan of action, in fact I admire it for it’s sense of (currently lacking a more appropriate way to phrase it) honor and duty.

Hate to say it, but that guy has his head screwed on right a lot better than probably 99% of the human race.

Great story, Mr. Crosby, and keep on writing. It’d make a great movie.

    R.K.

  13. Anko Says:

Woah, I can’t wait ’till TFZ and/or Sullivan see Val. Assuming that will happen. I wonder how the other vamps will react when they find out she caused this. Plus, is A. F. Payne the oldest vampire alive, as well? Who was he turned by? I’m guessing that’s not overly significant but oh well. Just wanted to know more…

  14. Zombiehunterx77 Says:

Hey he is Addison #@$%#$% Payne you dont need to know these details :)
    such a great line !!

  15. ZeldaBoy Says:

Hey I just found this comic today and have read every page so far and I LOVE it. I’m a pretty big fan of both zombies and vampires so your concept really grabbed me. I can’t wait to see how it turns out. And I would love to see some of these issues on the shelves at my local comic shop.

    Keep up the amazing work.

  16. Lydia Says:

    .. wth, Payne’s ripped.

Yeah, Val, feel guilty. I spat on your voluminous hair.

  17. FP Mal Says:

First time poster. FUcking awesome comic with a fucking awesome story. Addison Fucking Payne is also the coolest character in existance. Keep up the astounding work! Can’t wait for the movie!

  18. Tegu Says:

Man, I can’t wait for the zombie & vampire versus zombie melee that is to come! This is going to rock.

I had a question. Devian flys, and is the only flyer, but doesn’t have strength. Does that mean some vampires have certain powers, and others don’t, besides flying?

  19. Krasno Says:

What important discoveries made by pain have been wrongfully atributed to humans?

  20. Lan Says:

doa303: it’s sadist, not saddest, fyi.

  21. Endless Says:

Five more weeks straight? I’d be skeptical if I didn’t know you absolutely no doubt could do it.

So, 25 pages to finale, can’t wait!

  22. Snake Says:

Godlike, truly amazing. Can’t wait to see rage and murdo kick some ass

  23. Bobby Crosby Says:

    SPOILERS

“when we see val looking concerned and sorry , i can only assume that she made TFZ ?”

Yeah, I’ve said that around 10 times, including on the previous comments page, I think.  Yeah, said this 24 hours ago –

“TFZ was turned by Val in World War II because she was recruting the best soldiers to turn into vampires to help with the war effort.  She also turned Sullivan at the time, TFZ’s best friend.”

“do we get to hear her story and how this whole situation became soo FUBARED ?”

Yes. Short version in this graphic novel, long version in prequel later on (if that happens).

“Woah, I can’t wait ’till TFZ and/or Sullivan see Val. Assuming that will happen.”

Sullivan will not. Evil TFZ will, briefly.

“Plus, is A. F. Payne the oldest vampire alive, as well? Who was he turned by?”

    Don’t know, doesn’t matter.

“And I would love to see some of these issues on the shelves at my local comic shop.”

That’s entirely up to you — ask your comic shop to order them and they will!

“Devian flys, and is the only flyer, but doesn’t have strength. Does that mean some vampires have certain powers, and others don’t, besides flying?”

Yeah, some have extra powers and varying degrees of the “normal” vampire powers, like ability to smell and recognize blood from great distances (some greater and more accurate than others). If Devian were to turn a human, that new vampire probably couldn’t fly, but could jump 100 feet in the air maybe. But if she had a baby with another vampire as the father, that child could fly.

“What important discoveries made by pain have been wrongfully atributed to humans?”

A lot of the good ones!

  24. zero harmada Says:

haven’t commented in a while, but would just like to say I am really looking forward to the big fight. Owen’s drawings are all kick ass, but I really like how he does Payne; and on a related note, Payne is the greatest vampire evar :-)

  25. Endless Says:

I was thinking about Payne’s age and it got me wondering…

    Was Jesus a Vampire?

He could have been an ancestor of Devian’s (regardless of the fact that she’s asian, alot of cross race breeding can happen in 1500-2000 years)

Instead of walking on water, he could have been floating over it, when he was “killed” at the cross, he simply faked being dead and then healed in his tomb. Three days later he comes out and is all “I’m the son of God, w00t!

    Jesus: totally a vampire

  26. Endless Says:

Also, you talked about some vampires powers being mroe or less acute than others.

Is Mathenson’s blood smelling ability more finely tuned than other vampires? Because a couple of issues ago, he could tell that the zombies were running when Addison couldn’t

  27. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Because a couple of issues ago, he could tell that the zombies were running when Addison couldn’t”

That’s incorrect. Addison could definitely tell that they were running. He just didn’t give a shit because he knows that it’s impossible to kill a First Zombie who is trying not to be killed and that it wouldn’t matter anyway right now because of the millions of zombies right outside their door. Even if TFZ was killed and lost control of the zombies, they still wouldn’t be able to save the humans probably. And yes, as I’ve said many times in the comments, Math has one of the best noses, as does TFZ, and Val has the best nose of all (she turned both of them).

  28. IGOR Says:

“But if she had a baby with another vampire as the father, that child could fly”
What about Val then when she had some fun with Murdo will she have a baby too? Or she wont because at the time they did it he was a human?

  29. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Or she wont because at the time they did it he was a human?”

She won’t because she’ll be dead by Page 96.

  30. McGurker Says:

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Your spoiler hath killed it for me. Add an alert!!!!

  31. Nick Says:

    GAH!

Totally Agreed with the above poster. *Sniffles for Val*

This is a fantastic page. Very Very good speach by A.F.Payne.

  32. Bobby Crosby Says:

    “Add an alert!!!!”

This is in the original post at the top –

“Also, the comments section below is basically filled with spoilers nowadays, so only read on if you want spoilers.”

  33. McGurker Says:

Hee hee. Somebody doesn’t pay attention *not me*

    :-P

  34. achrin Says:

interesting future he has in his sight…i wonder how long it would take for the zombie gore/blood smell to fade from his senses

  35. doa303 Says:

i thought Math said that Val sucked at smelling blood, meh no biggie and lan what can i say i suck at spelling.

  36. Bobby Crosby Says:

“thought Math said that Val sucked at smelling blood”

You thought wrong. He never said that at all. He said they couldn’t count on her, because she’s suicidal and doesn’t give a shit about the humans. Never said she sucked at smelling blood.

  37. Cat Says:

    Question Round:

-Did Addison ever change anyone into a vampire?
-Was his intelligence increased when he became a vampire, ie his talent?
-If not, did he get any other special talent when he changed, ie good nose?

  38. Bobby Crosby Says:

    1. Probably.
    2. He might have been born a vampire.
    3. Don’t know. And all vampires get a good nose, but some are much better than others.

  39. Aquamage Says:

When you said that Adisson knew that it was impossible to kill the TFZ if he was trying not to be killed, does that mean he is impossible to kill or just unkillable at the moment?

  40. Bobby Crosby Says:

It means exactly what it says, that if TFZ is actually attempting to not be killed, then nothing’s going to kill him. If he for whatever reason weakens his defenses, possibly allows someone to get close to him, then maybe he could be killed, sure. He can’t be smelled and he has an army of billions protecting him (if he wants protection from them).

    SPOILER –

TFZ will be killed in this story, LOL.

  41. KayRis Says:

So Addison doesn’t know that there are 2 TFZs, right? Does Val? Are both TFZs going to be killed?

This is soooo exciting!!!!!!!! I’m so glad you’re updating so frequently, Bobby, because otherwise the suspense would be unbearable.

  42. Bobby Crosby Says:

None of the characters we’ve seen know about the second TFZ. Only one will be killed.

  43. fieldy409 Says:

Hey, addison paynes been fixing humanities problems for years right? well was he working on humanities, ‘modern’ problems? like stds, world hunger, war(well i guess he might not care about that, being a scientist)

  44. fieldy409 Says:

you know, before the zombie issues.

  45. Bobby Crosby Says:

He worked on anything of importance that would preserve human life and that his mind could help with.

  46. Teardropcatcher Says:

I guess we now know why Val is suicidal… Probably feels very guilty not only for turning the Schaemiacs, but for possible war crimes. I’m really sorry she’s going to die, since she looks like she could use a second chance… Anyway, awesome pair of pages, really had fun with the A.F. Payne pannel, all those fangs…o_o
Great work, lots of love from Europe!

  47. Tegu Says:

I gotta ask, are the two TFZs gonna fight? Who better to kill someone who can’t be found than another person who can’t be found. At least, I can’t wait till Sullivan’s horde comes running in and saves the day.

  48. Endless Says:

When did you say there was a second Schemaeic?

  49. Evan Says:

Man, I’m really like this story ,and the art. I can’t wait to see Murdo in action, he looks like he’s going to be a kick ass vampire.

  50. Raster2010 Says:

I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say Sullivan kills TFZ because of his granddaughter. Oh, and my first post ever!

  51. Bobby Crosby Says:

“I guess we now know why Val is suicidal… Probably feels very guilty not only for turning the Schaemiacs, but for possible war crimes.”

Um, no, she’s suicidal for the same reason all other vampires are — the 65 years of torture awaiting them. As the comic attempted to show on the page that showed Sullivan’s basketball records, Val did not know that she was responsible for this until that moment. She talked about killing herself early in the second issue.

“I gotta ask, are the two TFZs gonna fight?”

    No, won’t meet.

“When did you say there was a second Schemaeic?”

    Google is your friend.

  52. Marieke Says:

teehee! Google is nice indeed! *pats dog conveniently named google*

    Nah, kidding ;)

@Endless: I totally love your idea and I’m shocked I, being obsessed with vamps, didn’t think of it before… Of course Jesus was a vampire!!!! You opened my eyes!! Question is… is he still around? maybe… it’s the good Samaritan… Or even A. F. Payne… the church could be off a bit with the dates… of maybe A. F. Payne is his father???

ok, sorry. Enough nonsense, sorry bobby! Blame it on sleep deprivation!

Absolutely WONDERFUL updates!! Both you guys rock my world ;)

    take care!

the HummingBird ~ here one moment, gone the next…

  53. Bobby Crosby Says:

Addison turned Jesus. Thought he was a nice guy and shouldn’t be killed. Look for that prequel graphic novel starring Addison and Jesus in a few years.

  54. Gisle Christoffersen Says:

First time poster, long time reader. Stumbled upon the site through +EV only a couple of weeks after the first page and been dazed by it’s magnificence since then.
Just wanted to officially thank you guys for the great comic. After ordering the first two chapters today, I thought it was about time.

Now I’m only looking forward to be opening the mailbox and see the comics. And if they should happend to turn up on the exact date mentioned in the mail, it would actually be great, as they would be a splendid birthday present to myself.

That would be some timing even Addison Payne could envy. ;)

  55. Tegu Says:

As this was my first day posting, I really gotta thank you for answering both my questions. And for writing such an awesome comic! Like everyone else has said, you finally found a new spin on the zombie AND vampire story, and it totally ROCKS!!! Major points to both you and Owen for turning out such excellent stuff, and for interacting with your fans in such a great way.

  56. Ska Oreo Says:

This is my first post. Man what a great webcomic. Keep up the good work!!!

  57. Lord Klingsor Says:

Addison Payne is the ultimate raisonneur. I admire him.

  58. Snake Says:

so Jesus was a vampire in this story, that is a combination of offensive and awesome. Wait how did he turn water to wine. Wait maybe the whole vampire race was a gift from God, assuming God exsists in this comic.

  59. Wilowah Says:

    Greeeeat comic. :D

  60. Alk Says:

    awespme comic.
Have 1 question: If a vampire with a very good nose breeds with a vampire that can fly, will the baby have a very good nose AND the ability to fly?. If so, why wont they just breed a lot, and create super vampires like that. Like vampires with a lot of special treats?

And keep it up?, i love it!

  61. Szyronn Says:

    a win-win for rage:) cool
also love the jesus=vp theorie, it acctuallyholds more truth than that nonsens the church keeps ranting about…
respect fot the refreshrate of the comic

  62. Grym Says:

why hasn’t Payne cured cancer yet?

  63. doa303 Says:

Alk i reckon that the super vamp idea would work but they dont have the years that is needed to get anything more then vamp babies.

  64. Ninmecu Says:

“Have 1 question: If a vampire with a very good nose breeds with a vampire that can fly, will the baby have a very good nose AND the ability to fly?. If so, why wont they just breed a lot, and create super vampires like that. Like vampires with a lot of special treats?”

The issue with that, unless vampires have a vastly different anatomy then that of a normal human, is a baby born from the parents typicly gains the abilities of the parent prior, but maybe not to the same…Degree as his mother, like lets say One has super strength and the other can fly, the baby might be able to fly like an eagle and soar through the air with ease, and be blessed with only above average strength, just like he might be gifted with super speed(Flight increases the ability to travel as you cross through the sky’s and are not hampered by the terrain, add super strength to that mix and a hybrid with faster then normal speed could have developed from that) And the list of possible combinations could go on for a while.

  65. Irish Says:

Jesus, Bobby. This is getting tough to keep up with! Thanks for keeping this going for as long as it has, and I really hope to see a trailer for the movie soon.

  66. Zaldaran Says:

ah vampire eugenics, the future…if there is one

  67. Vo Says:

    ::quote

Addison turned Jesus. Thought he was a nice guy and shouldn’t be killed. Look for that prequel graphic novel starring Addison and Jesus in a few years

    ::/quote

    That is so fucking awesome.

    “I’m the Son of God”

    “No, you’re a snack.”

    Chomp-chomp.

  68. Szyronn Says:

    “I’m the Son of God”

    “No, you’re a snack.”

    Chomp-chomp.

    OMG hilarious

  69. Jonathan Says:

Is Addison Payne his original name? It doesnt seem too 900 BCEish

(My idea being maybe he was a great Human once)

  70. Jesse Says:

I seem to recall there being a comic some years ago called “Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter.”
In the Stoker vampire lore, a vamp biting Jesus would be like one of us taking a big old bite of delicious Cyanide Bar.
Not going anywhere for awhile? Grab a Cyanide Bar. Then you really won’t be going anywhere for awhile.

  71. H-man Says:

    Addison turned Jesus?
Watch your back for Vatican law suits!
The holy rollers are gonna getcha!

  72. Kieran Says:

hey, quick question the vampire who went suicide..wasnt that the “cencania” vampire?

    kieran

  73. Kieran Says:

i always thought jesus was a zombie…i mean, ge dies, and the comes back to life. what more proof is needed?
hell, you can argue that the original zombie legion of TFZ Jesus was the catholic church!

    kieran

  74. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Is Addison Payne his original name? It doesnt seem too 900 BCEish”

2,087 years ago was 80 BC. And yes, original name.

  75. Grym Says:

When are you planning on having the movie come out? I wait with baited breath.

  76. FP Mal Says:

So yeah… not too important a question here.. but I was just curious as to what major things the vampires have done to help humans? I read in another comment that they ‘killed’ the black plage (lol) but are there any other major ones?
    Thanks tons :D

    ~F.P. MalDonato

  77. Sarge Says:

sorry if this has already been asked, but if Addison changed Jesus into a Vampire, who changed Addison?

i know it probably has nothing to do with the story, but im curious

    thnx bobby

  78. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Addison changed Jesus into a Vampire”

I thought it was pretty clear that I wasn’t totally serious about that. I highly doubt I’ll ever write anything involving that.

    “who changed Addison?”

Earlier on this same comments page I answered that question by saying “He might have been born a vampire.”

“what major things the vampires have done to help humans?”

Earlier on this same page I answered that question by saying “A lot of the good ones!”

“When are you planning on having the movie come out?”

Million possibilities, don’t know, always changing, look through previous comments pages for more info.

New page in under 10 hours probably.

  79. Nick Says:

*Sets timer and stares at it*

    10 hours. 10 hours 10 hours 10 hours……. 9 hours 59 minutes 9 hours 59 minutes 9 hours 59 min- Ohhh, something shiny!

  80. Snake Says:

aghhh, I cant wait any longer please post it already

  81. Bobby Crosby Says:

Not even done writing it yet. Just finished the dialogue, now drawing the sketch.  It should be a good one.

  82. fieldy409 Says:

so do vampires just help with medicine and assasinating people like hitler when things get out of hand, or do they keep a hand on our politics? do they have puppets in the goverment?

  83. Bobby Crosby Says:

    Probably no puppets.

  84. Zaldaran Says:

oh man, i’m so glad you explained if you were serious or not about jesus and addison, because i really couldn’t tell. also it put a weird picture in my head of addison and jesus skipping through a field and a whole comic about them being best buddies.

  85. Bobby Crosby Says:

I got Owen the script too late and he most likely won’t finish it tonight. Two new pages up within 27 hours or so, though, almost certainly (98%), first one not for at least 18 hours probably. Should have five pages this week (at least four).

  86. Zachy T. Says:

    Hm…

Will there be an appearance of a First Vampire?
    ;O

  87. Bobby Crosby Says:

Don’t know what a First Vampire is. Just finished writing/sketching Page 89. No First Zombies will be seen again until about Page 95.

  88. vo Says:

    ::quote

    ::/quote

    Aw, but I love puppets…..

  89. Ken C. Says:

Again, love the comic, can’t wait for the movie.

I find myself torn though, between sympathy for the people who extrapolate the least significant blurb of conversation into plot altering surprise endings, and admitting just a hint of frustration for thinking some of the same things myself.

I imagine Mr. B. Crosby has some of these replies in a text file he can just copy/paste from, since he’s responded to the same question(s) so many times :)

    Last thing :

Do you think it would be possible to have a panel in one of the future sure-to-be epic/apocalyptic fight scenes where someoen is wielding a flamethrower?

I’d love to see someone shooting a hot, squirty jet of flamey goodness into an undead wall of zombie un-goodness!!

    Woot!

    Ken. C

  90. Bobby Crosby Says:

Probably not going to include a flamethrower, since it wouldn’t help to kill zombies and would only make them more dangerous to the humans. Last thing they want is to set the building on fire. Reminds me of scenes in horrible zombie movies where the army shoots zombies in the chest with machine guns, as if that would do any good. Gotta shoot ‘em in the damn brain.

  91. Matt Says:

    Hey! Love the comic!
    Quick Question.
Is the ‘Zombie Private Ryan’ ,in….page 3-6, Sullivan Davis?
Or just a random WWII zombie? And why was TFZ inside a casket? If he was turned to a vampire….wouldn’t he have survived? Or was that HOW he became deprived of blood?

  92. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Is the ‘Zombie Private Ryan’ ,in….page 3-6, Sullivan Davis?”

No, it’s the evil TFZ, which is the same guy who leads off the comic under the ocean, but I’m guessing you don’t know that there are two First Zombies, since all of your questions have been answered a million times in the comments.

“And why was TFZ inside a casket?”

Decided to be buried at sea (the Pacific) with the rest of his fellow soldiers who died in a big battle. He played dead (not hard to do as a vampire).

“Or was that HOW he became deprived of blood?”

He became deprived of blood by CHOICE, as Addison essentially flat out says in the past few pages.

  93. mariered Says:

Bobby, my love, you do not need to answer the silly questions. Just write more of the wonderful story. If questions go unanswered, the askers will eventually do their homework and read the earlier comment pages.
Now where’s that delicious update!? I know, you told us. And I’m thrilled you pay your fans such attention! Thanks.

  94. ray Says:

this concept is great. i love the comic so far. Keep up the great work Bobby, i cant wait to see what happens next.

  95. Zaldaran Says:

Wow man, i went back and read one of your old comments about TFZ killing people in a secluded place, dressing them in hoodies and having them slightly bite a few people for international flights. you have officially scared me to the brink of death. nightmares man, nightmares.

  96. Bobby Crosby Says:

Ha, thanks for reminding me of that — gotta include that in his upcoming speech.

  97. Abrak Says:

It’s a pity that Addison Fucking Payne doesn’t have access to some nuclear missiles. That would even the situation a little.

Well, if he was looking after the humanity, some nuclear control would be advisable. A Third World War could have been as devastating as the zombie infection.

  98. Bobby Crosby Says:

Nuclear missiles wouldn’t really help much, and he does have access to them. He has access to anything he wants. It’s an empty planet and he’s a genius who can fly a plane. TFZ would be able to find the humans anywhere and kill them by himself probably, even if he had no zombies at his command, even if they were all somehow killed by nuclear bombs. Pretty risky using nukes anyway. They didn’t help Earth much against the zombies obviously.

New page within 45 minutes probably, but only one tonight, sorry. Probably only four pages this week.
