"I was asking about how it happened that this little town and town X(please say it’s cancun on spring break) in mexico happened to be at just the right distances from nuclear explosions that the fallout wouldn’t have killed everyone outright."

Oh, no, THOUSANDS (possibly millions) of towns were far enough away to not be killed by the nuclear bombs. I'd say only about 15% of the world's population were killed by nuclear bombs. The rest were turned into zombies. "ALL-OUT nuclear war" may have been a bit misleading. Tons of nuclear bombs went off, but it wasn't a total blanketing of all the major countries. I'd say maybe only 20 nuclear bombs went off in America (on the coasts mostly), probably because most countries were counting on the American military to save them from the zombies. And most (if not all) of the nuclear bombs that went off in America were probably fired by America itself, strategically trying to stop the outbreak, probably blowing away California, where it started. The school in South Dakota was probably over 1,000 miles from any nuclear explosion, which is why they didn't know about them.

No Chuck Norris comic, sorry!
